El Salvador: Movimiento de Jóvenes Encuentristas (Ilobasco)

A Salvadoran NGO which implements projects aimed at generating opportunities for youth with a holistic approach. MOJE began by working with young ex-gang members and youth at risk of social exclusion, located in violent and marginal urban areas in Ilobasco, a rural town one hour away from San Salvador which has now grown into a highly regarded artisanal micro enterprise training center.

The youth at MOJE come from some of the poorest and most conflictive areas of Ilobasco. The woodworking skills learned in making artisan crafts leads some to apprentice in carpentry and other marketable trades.

MOJE continues to work with former gang members and with at risk youth in three programs: (i) Marketing Crafts, (ii) Training Program-Technical Business and Job Placement, and (iii) Training and Education Program. Also, MOJE provides human development activities for youth such as aid in self-esteem and psychological attention Contact: Salvador Hernández (director) Final 4ª Avenida Norte, pasaje El Campo #11 Barrio San Miguel.
