Javier lost his brothers in gang violence. He is seeking a different path for himself and his family with the help of GeneraciĆ³n X and the Multiservices Cooperative which has trained Javier to run his own small landscaping business.
Supported by the Regional Youth Alliance / Alianza Joven Regional employment creation project Challenge 100 /Desafio 100, the multiservice group have trained youth in welding, ecological landscaping, floor waxing and transportation dispatching among other skills. By researching local labor market trends and services with a local demand, the multiservice group has had a higher degree of success placing former gang members in sustainable self-employment or micro enterprises than other programs.
